Recommend your vacuum

Our vacuum just died on us, it was a Bissel "lift off" about 5 yrs. old, never had any problems with it. We are looking for another vacuum in the mid price range, nothing over $200, so that rules out Dyson, although I would love one... We do have a dog, but her shedding isn't that bad. My hair is worse, lol

Re: Recommend your vacuum

I can't remember how much it cost, but I LOVE our Kenmore Intelliclean (it's an upright.) When we were looking it was rated very well by Consumer Reports. I use it mostly on carpet and it works great. It is not bagless, which bothered me at first. My last Hoover was bagless and I have realized I like the bag better after all. I hated emptying the "tank" with the dust flying around.

Re: Recommend your vacuum

We just got the Shark Navigator and I am very happy with it. Its been really good on both our wood floors and our area rug. We have a god as well and I am happy with its pick up!

We mostly have berber (sp) carpeting, and three levels to vacuum. So something that won't be too hard to lug up and down the stairs.

Re: Recommend your vacuum

I have two Eureka Boss series vacs. It always rates much higher than any Dyson ever does, and it's about half the price. There are several vacs that are half the price or less of a Dyson, and are much better at vacuuming as well.

Re: Recommend your vacuum

we absolutely LOVE our dyson ball. it's light weight so it goes up the stairs super easy, is bag-less so clean-up is really easy, and we vacuum when the carpet doesn't even look that dirty, and it picks up a ton of cat hair we couldn't even see. and it goes from carpet to hardwood really smoothly. use it for every floor in the house. only problem - when it gets clogged it can be a little tricky to clean out until you figure out how to do it. but i called the dyson hotline and he walked me through it and we haven't had an issue since.

We have a Miele canister vaccum but I think it was about $300.

But the suction is AMAZING.

Miele's get great ratings too.

Re: Recommend your vacuum

Love my Dyson cannister (DC23). Not sure how it would be on berber carpets though, I use mine mostly on hardwood.
