Recommend your Thermometer

I have 2 thermometers and I think they are horrible. My DS will be 10months and according to both thermometers he's never had a temp...even when he's really hot. He hasn't had many fevers at all so I never made this a huge concern. Now he has a cold and his body if warmer then usually and the thermometer is saying he's cooler then usual. I don't get it...am I doing something wrong? I take both rectal and underarm to see if I get a different reading and they're the same.

BTW...I have the 8sec Vicks Digital which beep right when I insert it and I have the Safety 1st Digital that comes in the emergency kit.

We have the thermal scan one - forehead - Exergen $29 @ Costco

Sometimes we scan just for fun so when he is sick its not a big deal
