Recommend your Home Warranty Co.

I've done a bunch of research online, but it seems there's not one Home Warranty company that gets good reviews!

Re: Recommend your Home Warranty Co.

Might be a silly question, but what is a Home Warranty Company? Do you mean Homeowner's Insurance?

Re: Recommend your Home Warranty Co.

A Home Warranty company covers things like appliances, plumbing, heating, electrical. When I bought my house last year, my REA gave us a one year home warranty. We only used it once, when our refrigerator died. I called the home warranty company...they send out a sub-contractor who determined the fridge couldn't be fixed (it was really old). So they offered us a new fridge or $$$ to go buy our own.

The company we have now is HomeTrust. Our policy expires in 2 weeks.

All our appliances are old do they come and look at everything before you sign up? It may be worth it. I think my fridge and dishwasher are doing a death walk.

Re: Recommend your Home Warranty Co.

Most cost between $200-$400 per year. But you can probably haggle with them. Also, there is a 'service fee' per incidient. Kind of like a co-pay.

I don't believe they inspect your home prior to signing up.

If you Google 'home warranty'...a bunch of companies come up.

I'm not sure if it applies to co-op's...I guess it wouldn't hurt to call and find out. It would definitely cover the fridge and dishwasher.
