Re: Recommend your convertible car seats
We have
Graco MyRide 65 First Years TrueFit Britax Boulevard.
I would recommend all 3. ALl are easy to install and use. All harness to 65lbs and have tall shells The Boulevard and True fit rear face to 35lbs and have built in lock offs on them (this is important since after a child reaches 40lbs you need to install with a seatbelt, not latch, and it eliminates the need for a separate locking clip),. They also have no rethread harness adjustment systems, which means the harness height can be adjusted without removing the seat from the car and having to rethread the harnesses.
The myride has a 40lb rear facing limit.
Some others to look into:
Britax Marathon/Roundabout 50 Safety 1st Complete Air Sunshine Kids Radian 65/80/sl/xtsl Evenflo Symphony/generations65
Ideally, you want a seat which will harness to 65lbs forward facing that has a relatively high top slot. SOme seats are deceiving, like the oft recommended ComfortSport, only harness to 40lbs and are quickly outgrown by height
If your child is still rearfacing, you want to rear face until a minimum of 2yrs and 30lbs, preferably longer.

Re: Recommend your convertible car seats
I have a Britax Marathon and an Evenflo Triump. I really like both although I find the straps get less tangled with the Britax. But I think they got the same safety ratings from Baby Bargains and the Evenflo is about half the price!

Re: Recommend your convertible car seats
I like the Britax Boulevard. One of the few seats with side impact protection. Also, I think the only brand that can use the top tether when rear-facing, which was a big safety thing for me.
You want a seat that goes up to a fairly high weight so you can keep DC in the seat as long as possible.

All of Sunshine Kids Radians also allow rear facing tethering

Re: Recommend your convertible car seats
Recaro Como LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE it.
I will admit there was a recall on an older model, it was a voluntary recall and something they fixed going forward. Mine was not a recall model edition.
My Pros: super soft bottom cushion. If she's gonna sit on it for a long time I want her to not get fussy so less distractions the better.
Soft velvety material (but washable in a standard machine)
Rear facing to 35lb i think.. but forward facing up to 70lbs so I will get a lot of use out of it!

That's great. I haven't researched car seats in several years, so I'm not up on all the latest models. It's good to see other manufacturers picking up on a lot of the European safety features, and better safety features in general. 3 years ago, Britax was the only seat with the rear top tether.

Re: Recommend your convertible car seats
Ya know, I always forget about the Signo seats! They have the Young Sport seat too, which harnesses to 80lbs
I don't know why either. I have 2 friends with Como's they love them.
The Signo is similar to the Como but has the no rethread knob adjuster for the harness

Britax used to be in the forefront of innovation, unfortunately, they are rapidly losing ground to companies like Sunshine Kids, Safey 1st, First Years and Graco.
Of course, if they would just bring the Britax Multi Tech with it's 55lb rear facing limits over to the US that would change LOL

Re: Recommend your convertible car seats
Britax Diplomat because it's small enough to fit in my small car. haha!
It also has true side impact protection and is near $150 at Amazon.com. Alot of good car seats are so expensive these days!
