Recent newborn mommies
I know a few of us had our babies in the past few weeks. How's everyone doing? I am gradually adjusting to life as a mommy of a newborn. For those who followed my initial post, I did give up the BFing, and I am gradually letting go of my guilt from that. Otherwise, things are going well. My 11-day-old DD sleeps pretty much all day between feedings, yet somehow I'm still exhausted! I guess we are slowly getting some kind of system down around here. It is definitely hard being in the house all day with a little one, and I look forward to every visitor we get. When the weather is nice, I'm looking forward to taking her out for walks.

Re: Recent newborn mommies
It was really hard for me in the beginning.. People warn u about lack of sleep but not about crazy hormones that combined with that lack of sleep & a crying baby make mommy cry as well! Lol! I'd say at around 1 month is when I got my $hit together & adjusted to everything. I'm doing well now... BFing which can be a challenge but it's going great... DD is a great sleeper too (I hate saying this bc I'm afraid I'll jinx it)... She sleeps 5-7 hrs for her big sleep every night (last night was 8 hrs!) & then usually goes back for a 3-4 hr sleep after that. She naps during the day but when she is awake she is so alert & loves to smile, laugh & "talk."
We brought her out for her first dinner out last night to an outside restaurant & (as I posted earlier today) I haven't really brought her out in public to inside places but I think I will start soon.
I'm nervous about the 2month shots she will be getting next wed.. I'll prob cry more than she does. I hope she isn't miz for the 4th of July as a result.
I love her so so so much it's ridiculous. I didn't know I could love anyone like this. I'd do anything for her. I love being a mom!

Re: Recent newborn mommies
I personally would rather go through labor again..than the first 8 weeks on having my DS...lol
As a first time mom, lack of sleep and DS having tummy/formula issues, I had no idea how hard it would be..I will say that the 3 month mark is so amazing...he is 13 weeks and is sleeping more, I am feeling more confident, and it feels like things are getting better...

I would walk over hot coals in order to not to the last three months again. I sound negative but it's so hard! I never knew that such a lack of sleep would kick my butt so bad. I adore my son so much that it was worth it. He is sleeping for longer stretches and he smiles and coos like crazy.

Re: Recent newborn mommies
I had ds on June 11th- scheduled c-sec- and recovery from surgery was great compared to dd's 3 yrs ago.
My lil Max is 2 weeks old today and the lack of sleep from breastfeeding, him being awake at night more than the day as well as taking care of dd is making me miserable.
even though i was tired and upset , after dinner i took dd out for a mommy daughter shopping trip...singing and talking with her cheered me up quite a bit. fresh air prob helped too

Re: Recent newborn mommies
I'm great! DD is just over a week old and DH has been awesome. I am having a great recovery from my CS, she is sleeping like an angel so far (I nap sometimes when she does!).
I had trouble BF and still struggle. She started to get jaundice in the hospital so I had to pump whatever I could and supplement with formula. Because of that she wants nothing to do with my breast but I am still pumping and giving her the milk.
I think I am more frustrated with my overbearing mother and MIL than DD. Lol.
We actually have our newborn shoot tomorrow and I can't wait!!!!

Re: Recent newborn mommies
I had DD on June 8th so she is just a little over 2 weeks old. I also have an almost 2 year old DD - Dh was home for the first 2 weeks and just went back to work today. I was very very concerned having the two of them by myself but I must say it was not that bad at all today. There were a few moments that I thought I was going to lose it but we got through it DD #1 is amazing with DD #2 and I already in love with their dynamic in this short period of time DD #2 is such a great baby. She only gets up once during the night to eat and falls back to sleep right away and then gets up at 8 am for the day. She takes a long afternoon nap and is most awake/alert in the morning and early evening. DD #1 was never ever this good!!!! I am breastfeeding and it is definitely challenging especially with an almost 2 year old to entertain but I am giving it my all especially since DD #1 never latched on and I spent the first three months of her life attached to the breast pump. But DD #2just seems to fit into our lives and schedule and I really can not complain at all right now.

Recent newborn mommies
I had DD on 4.25... The first 3 or 4 weeks were rough, my hormones were crazy and I felt like I was going crazy too but, then I just started to feel better as I got used to being a mommy, it was like a fog lifting. dd is sleeping longer and I have a schedule for myself of things I need to do while she sleeps. She never latched on to my breast, so I have been pumping and she's been having only breast milk by bottle. She gets her 1 st shots tomorrow so I'm a little nervous....

Re: Recent newborn mommies
I had my DD May 24. I also have a 3 1/2 year old DD. I feel so much more relaxed as a second time mommy. Watching the 2 girls together is just simply amazing :)
DD is a wonderful sleeper. Wakes up once maybe twice during the night to eat. Sleeps most of the day as well with more and more awake and alert time I've been noticing.
She very rarely cries, but she gets that "newborn grunting" at night where she makes lots of noise in her sleep and stretching..lol Dr. says its normal and she will outgrow it. I can;t wait cause I am still awake at night with the noise, but thankful at least that its not crying.
DD was in the NICU for 11 days after birth so I pumped for her during that time. I've kept up the pumping since she's been home. I do feel like I am attached at times to my new best friend the breast pump..lol But it is nice to allow DD and DH to also feed the baby and give me a break. :)
All is all it has been a really great transition from 1 to 2 children, alot easier than I thought.

Re: Recent newborn mommies
My dd is 3 weeks and she is my second. She is such an easy baby compared to my first dd. I have to wake we to eat. My first never slept and had horrible colic so this is such a nice surprise! She still isnt up to her birth weight so I've added formula. I'm pumping which I hate and my supply stinks so I'm thinking of just going to all formula. I had a horrible recovery from my csec this time around. My incision opened after I got home. I threw up during the entire surgery and for 12 hours after. The hardest part of having a newborn has been my toddler. She just doesn't get it yet. She is resentful of me and it's been hard dealing with it.
