Reason 346 why I love my pediatrician - also a Joseph update.
Joseph had high fevers all last week (ranging from 102-104 EVERY day/night). Poor boy was on Motrin & Tylenol all week. On Friday, Dr. Cavanaugh (aka Pediatric Hero) returns my phone call.
He tells me that the strep culture came back negative (even with the red, blotchy throat) & that he feels it's viral (explains why, etc).
I tell him I'm worried about that Joseph has had such high fevers for such a long time. He explains that viruses can last 7-10 days, fevers are usually can be 3-7 days. If he still has a fever on Monday, he'll do so blood work, etc. to determine the viral infection. I immediately feel calmer.
He ends with telling me how much he & his staff loved the Christmas Card I sent ::pat self on back::::eat up compliments by Pediatric Hero:::
Saturday - Joseph wakes up completely fine, no more fever. Pale as a ghost & definitely weaker - but who cares --- do the Fever is gone dance...Woo Hoo!!
Today, DH calls me. He told me that Dr. Cavanaugh called to see how Joseph was doing. Once again  for him!!! I switched from having a doctor who was a condescending jerk who never called back (and keep in mind - Joseph was a preemie with RSV on this guy's watch) to having someone who I think has the best bedside manner with my children & actually calls me himself to see if he's feelng better.
Anyway - Moral of the Pediatric Hero - if you don't feel your pediatrician is up to par, SWITCH. There are definitely GREAT, GREAT ones out there.
and they lived happily ever after...or until Maddie gets the virus.

Thank you for all the FMs, offers to help out with Maddie, hugs, supports & guesses on what illness he had. I can't even begin to tell you how great I think you all are!

I am so glad he is doing better.
Katie saw Dr. Cavanaugh for her last ear infection- he is very nice.

That's great! Glad to hear Joseph is feeling better. My nephews go to Dr. Cavanaugh and they love him!

for Dr. Cavanaugh. It's rare to find a doctor so dedicated these days.
So happy that the fever finally broke and that everythings seems to be returning to normal.

I'm so glad to hear that Joseph is doing better. It must be so scary to have your baby sick for so many days.
I'm so glad you have a doctor that is comforting. That's such a great thing.

First off, Im glad Joseph's all better
(and mommy too  )
and every time you guys post about this Dr. I really want to finally "make the switch" My peds have annoyed me more times than once, brushing things off or not mentioning things from the previous visits, etc. Ive REALLLY been thinknig of switching for a few months now.
where exactly is he located?
