Really stupid blog question . . . actually 2 stupid ones
First, I want to follow my god son's blog and I pressed "follow" and it says I am a follower but it never emails me when there are updates.
2nd, How do I find other blogs? I have found a few, but don't know how to find others.

FOr your 2nd question- I always find new ones by doing a google search for the topic you like followed by blog (ex- "baking blog" or "weight watchers blog")
Or you can click the "more" link at the top of the google search page- choose "blogs" and then type in a search term.

I think you need to subscribe to the RSS feed or something to get notifications of new postings. I am not really sure how that part works. I use Google Reader to follow blogs. You subscribe to as many blogs as you want and when ever there is a new post, it will show up in the reader. You can read it there or if you want to comment click on the link to open the actual blog.
As far as finding blogs...
you can search interests and add blog to the search request "chocolate chip cookie blog" and you'll get a list.
a lot of companies have blogs you can follow.
check the sidebar of blogs you are following to see if there's anything there you would be interested in tracking.
go to blog sites (blogger, word press, etc) and do searches there based on interests.
