I read most of this article....and its funny you posted this today-

Me being a younger mom- I feel like people are watching and judging my every move- and I take offense to it.... I love my child more than anything- and would lay my life on the line for him at a drop of a hat! Working in daycare- Ive been taking care of a minimum of 8 different babies a year for the past 5 yrs....Trust me- I've learned a thing or two....and probably have more experience with children- then some moms- who feel it necessary to judge me- based on my age....

Anyways- I wanna share an experience I had today- Every year my company has a BBQ- this year- we had it on the 4th of July. We always have it at the same persons house, since she has a beautiful backyard, with a pool, a jacuzzi, and basketball court.

Ryan and I went for a swim- and while in the pool I got to talking to this womans husband- He began to tell me- how the pool is heated @ 88 degrees- and the jacuzzi is left at the same temp- since he cant go in anything too warm since having his surgery or whatever... Plus he knows his grandkids like the jacuzzi- so he keeps it cool for them....

In the meantime- my boss' older kids- are begging me to bring Ryan in the jacuzzi with them-

Now knowing that the pool (which we had been in for the past 15 min) and the jacuzzi was the same temp- I decided to take him in for a sec and let him play with the bubbles-

I feel the water first and sure enough- this man was telling the truth- no warmer than the pool...



Well- a co- worker and one of her friends happened to see me take him in from across the way- and they begin to whisper (for they had not known- the jacuzzi wasnt at its reg. temp) I hear them saying- She should not have him in there- its too hot... blah blah blah- then when I got out- when of them said soemthing to me like "Um- Maris- dont you think its a little to warm for him??"


I then explained how it wasnt being heated- blah blah blah- and was the same temp as the pool (not for nothing- but Ryan takes warmer baths)

And it was dropped.... Later on they went in the jacuzzi themseleves and prob. realized how wrong they were!!!!

Regardless- this was a big deal to me- and I STILL feel like a bad mom- for taking him in... When I know- that it was no different then being in the pool and that I would never take my child in a heated jacuzzi!!!!

I dont know what my point of all this was- but I know how when someone questions your parenting- its the worst feeling the world- and I personally- never say anything to anyone- unless I feel the child life is really in danger!

I don't think its because you are young. People just always seem at liberty to be critical of moms. As if we don't worry enough already!!
