Re: really dumb question ...but
any age up until about 2-3 i would say. it largely depends on the child and their ability to eat neatly.
DS is 2 weeks old and i use them when i need an outfit to last a few hours.

My son used them until 1 1/2. He tried to pull them off and would scream until I removed it.

Re: really dumb question ...but
bibs is a tough one. it really depends on the child.
#1 My first had the "first child" everything, so I had bibs on him till I think past 18-20months. he also drooled by the bucket. so he needed cotton bibs 24/7.
# 2 I have NO recollection of him drooling at all, I even remember noting WOW wheres the drool stage??? PLUS he ripped bibs off like a little looney. so he NEVER wore bibs. Id be shocked to see photos with a bib on him.
as much I love to preserve clean clothes, it got to the point where I just gave up.
now w # 3, so far he lets me put bibs on him (the plastic ones to eat, easy to wipe). Zero drool from him too, so I dont use bibs other than eating.
So bibs is a tough one... you might want to ask the moms if the kids use them at all.
sorry to ramble its a cute idea though. we did get one as a favor once, and my cousin painted the kids names on them. It was so cute that I nevr wanted to ruin it. lol.
