Really dumb question about escrow check

We recently refinanced our house to get a lower rate than what we had

All
Went smooth. Yesterday we got our escrow check. What are we suppose to do with it?

Is it ours to keep? Or do people just put it back towards the mortgage

I would assume you can do whatever you want with it. They should have included necessary funds in the new escrow account in your closing costs. We just refinanced and the bank credited out escrow toward the payoff amount of the old loan and we had to pay 6 months taxes and our insurance in our closing costs bc they are no longer wiling to escrow insurance and it was due this month.

the new loan should have included a new escrow...so this check should be yours. Enjoy!

It is most likely yours, but I would check with your new company to make sure. You don't have to have your escrow short.

and yes, the new escrow should have been taken care of. i would say it's yours to enjoy.

It's yours. Deposit it. If you want to make an additional principle payment, you can do that with the money, but it's your choice.
