Reading my first book on my kindle. . .

I am so pleasantly surprised. My motivation for asking for one for my birthday was because I have three bookcases in my parents' house and I have no more room for new books. i figured I could "deal" with not having a real book in my hands.

Well, I bought Marley and Me for $6 and started reading it. I read it curled up on the couch next to DH and I made it the biggest font so I wouldn't strain my eyes. My eyes are VERY sensitive - they often tear when I use the double monitor at work. The kindle did NOT irritate my eyes at all, even in low light conditions.

To be honest, once I got into the story I forgot that it wasnt a regular book!

It is so thin, I stuck it into my purse and brought it with me to my ILs.

So, if anyone is thinking of getting on - I highly recommend it. My favorite part is that I thought of a book, and ten seconds later I was reading it!

Thanks for the review. I was thinking of asking for one and hurting my eyes was a big factor in not getting one. The only other thing that bothers me is that I enjoy reading a good book and then lending it out to my friends and I won't be able to do that with a kindle Chat Icon I think I might still ask for one though, is $6 the average price of a book on that thing?

All the books I have seen so far are between $6 and $9

Yeah the not lending the books out thing kind of stinks. . .didnt think about that - they will have to get their own damn books now LOL JK

I love my kindle. I've had it for a year now and it is the best present DH ever got me. Never hurts my eyes and convenient to take everywhere.

cool-- I am getting one for DH for his birthday. This is the thing that concerns me with it too-- sometimes you just like a real book!

A little too pricey for me. I think I might wait for the price to drop.

i kinda want one too! but i feel like for that much money the damn books should be free! its annoying that u have to spend over $300 to get it, and then to read the books u have to pay even more

im glad u like it though!!

Thanks for the review. People keep encouraging me to try it but I love books! I'm hesitant.

thanks for the review...I am hesitant to get one since I enjoy the "feel" of a real book...but the amount of books in my small apt is cumbersome
