Spinoff to Anyone else notice....

If you have already had your baby, did you want a c-section? Were you ok with it?

If you havent had your baby yet, do you WANT one? Or are you like me who only wants one if it is ABSOLUTELY necessary!

Discuss! Friendly of course Chat Icon

Re: Spinoff to Anyone else notice....

Like i said in my last post on a similar topic, i wound NEVER request one, i would LOVE to have this baby naturally..i do have MANY health problems now, that i didnt have with my DS, so it may not be possible, BUT the ONLY time i would actually request one, is if my baby was on the larger side again..(which is doubtful BECAUSE of my health isues lately)
i could never, and would NEVER want to deliver a baby over 10 lbs naturally again lol

I would prefer not to have one, only if it is medically really necessary!!!

I am having a c/s..I'm pg with twins and my doctor talked about all the pros and cons of delivery with twins. This made me decide on a scheduled c/s and i'm very happy about it.

I'm with you, I would like to have the baby naturally, but understand that sometimes a c/s is necessary and I won't put my baby or myself in harms way.

I didn't want one unless necessary BUT when I went in for my last appt. my OB really felt that a C-section was the safest route for us so.......we're going in tomorrow for the surgery. It's not what I planned of course but it's what is in the best interest of the baby so I'm okay with our decision.

I had one due to a few issues and my next baby will be a scheduled c-section. I have no regrets, do not feel like I "missed out" on anything as I was able to experience contractions and so forth

Re: Spinoff to Anyone else notice....

I am absolutely PETRIFIED of vaginal birth...

That said, if I have enough drugs-- I can probably do it-- as long as there is no tearing, etc.

I honestly, would prefer a c-section, if the recovery wasn't so bad.

I wouldn't be lying if I said I hadn't prayed for some medical condition that would necessitate a c-section. I am just really scared.

No, I do not want one. That being said, I know with twins it is a very good possibility. I will do whatever is best for me and my babies. But as I get closer, I am going to make it very clear to the doctors that I really want to try for a vaginal delivery.

I was thinking the same thing... Natural birth scares me. With a lot of drugs then I'm fine with it. Although I'd prefer natual child birth if I have to get a c-section then that's fine too

Re: Spinoff to Anyone else notice....

I had a C/s with my son. I will have to have one with my PG now as I can never deliver naturally.

Its been 15 months since Noahs birth and I still grieve the C/S. Its a very sore spot for me and I hated it. I wanted a antural delivery, and it was taken from me. I wanted that experience, and I feel cheated.

But my ultimate goal is a healthy baby and would do ANYTHING to get that outcome.

Re: Spinoff to Anyone else notice....

i kind of always thought i would end up with a c-section, but i never thought it would be elective (which it ended up being). i just suspected that i would go into labor, not be able to deliver naturally, and need an emergency c-section (no way to know if this was mother's intuition because it didn't happen that way).

DS was measuring big so i chose to have a c-section and i am glad i did, because although he was only 7 lbs 10 oz, his head was (and is!) large and i really doubt i would have been able to get him out naturally.

now that i have had the c-section i am really, really glad i did. i KNOW that it was major surgery but i just had such an amazing experience and recovery, and i don't feel like i "missed out" at all (i am only 2 weeks PP so i don't know yet if i will feel differently down the road).

i am almost 100% sure i will go for a scheduled c-section with all future pregnancies, i don't think i would want to try a VBAC, just because of the risks.

Re: Spinoff to Anyone else notice....

Honestly I have had purely selfish thoughts of having a C-Section to keep the 'parts' just like new and to get an extra 2 weeks disability ...and maybe to be sure to get that baby here before the New Year so we get the tax break.....

But, I wouldn't really do it, if something happened where I needed a C-Section for medical reasons, then i would do it.

Re: Spinoff to Anyone else notice....

I had a c-section with our DS but did not have a choice.

I would prefer to have VBAC with this baby but will not be upset if I end up having another c.

Re: Spinoff to Anyone else notice....

I'm not opposed to the idea of a c section if I ABSOLUTELY need one bc the baby or myself are in danger...I personally want to have a vaginally delivery, bc believe it or not, I don't like the thought of the C Section recovery..I don't like to be "out of commission" I'm too much of a control freak to allow anyone else to get things done, and I have heard that recovery could be not that great...

I do not want a CS but if it's best for the baby and I than that's the route we'll go.

Re: Spinoff to Anyone else notice....

My DS was a c-section due to size ...The way he arrived was never an issue to me, vaginal vs c-section as long as the baby was healthy and delivered safely...This one is a c-section as well because my dr. felt it safer than vbac in my case (I probably wouldnt have a choice regardless if my previa doesnt resolve)...I guess because I dont have anything to compare to- c-section was very easy for me recovery wise, and having a DS already, it will be somewhat convenient as far as planning (getting someone to take care of DS when I go in)...I didnt have any expectaions going into the whole pregnancy thing, so I think that helped me in a variety of ways (ex; childbirth, breast-feeding etc...) Kinda took it as it came Chat Icon

I'd prefer NOT to have major abdominal surgery if I can avoid it -
if it was necessary, I'd never refuse it though -

I don't want a c-section unless it's the safest option for me and baby. This is my first pregnancy and I definitely want more, so I'm hoping to not have to have a c-section.

Re: Spinoff to Anyone else notice....

I was past my due date and had not progressed at all. I was having contractions that my body wasn't responding to. The baby also hadn't dropped. So I sat down with my OB and we discussed induction vs. c section and he felt that even if they induced that I would still end up with a c section. I opted not to go through labor and just go for the c section. I have no regrets.

I would prefer natural, but if I had too then I'm with NinaLemon for the extra two weeks off.

Re: Spinoff to Anyone else notice....

With my DS my Blood pressure was high and i was VERY Swollen that they had to put me on bedrest a month before i was due then i went into the docs office for my weekly check up and i had gained 8lbs within a week and my blood pressure was still high so i wasnt even allowed to go home i had to go straight to the hospital for a c-section and to be quite honest my recover was not bad at all i had the c-section on friday and then had to be in bed on sat b/c they gave me magnisum sulfate just to make sure my blood pressure wouldnt go crazy with the stress of the birth and by Sunday i was up and walking around...

for this pregnancy i wanted to do the vbac but since my DS will only be 15 months when my DD is due my doc said it is tooo soon to try the vbac so i will be having another c-section. which i dont mind since it will be whats safest for the both of us... the only thing that i dont like about having a c-section is actually picking the date i feel like i am tempting fate...

But its really not as bad as everyone thinks
IMO
