Re: Moms pregnant with #2 or more...
I'm still deciding on this one. My DD is older (4) and I'm leaning towards having her with us, but leaving my mom at home (who will be staying with us.) I think it might help with the transition and I'm hoping to include her in as much as possible.

Yes b/c I want us to all go home as a family - I don't want it to seem like we're bringing this new person into 'his' house - and I don't want my parents to bring him over AFTER we're home and the baby is already there -
Just my thing though -

I think we'll have DS stay with my parents, it took awhile for me to get discharged with DS and I don't want him there all day in case there are any delays.

I think that DS stayed with my parents that morning. DH has to carry the baby out of the hospital, so watching a LO might be too much?
I think both will stay with my parents for this one too.

Re: Moms pregnant with #2 or more...
I would like my girls to be there. They are older, so I think it would be ok. DD#1 was there when we took DD#2 home and she was fine. DD#2 is very attached to me, so she might give us a little bit of a tough time, but I would prefer them be there so we can go home all together as a family. I can understand the other side of it too. Getting discharged from the hospital can be a long process, and it can be a very boring and exhausting process for a little one.

I do not plan on taking DS with us. I do plan on sending him to daycare if it is a weekday and if not leaving him with my mom.

Good question... I guess I assumed DS would be home with my parents, but I don't want him to feel left out...

When my DD was born, it was back in 2009 when H1N1 was in full effect.
Anyone under the age of 18 was not allowed to visit the hospital so my DS wasn't even allowed to come see me.
He was not there when I was discharged. He was with my parents and they brought him back to our house to meet us there when we got home. Worked out perfectly for us.
Same here-DD was banned. She went to daycare and I picked her up as soon as I got home from the hospital.
Those days without her were so hard, I missed her so much, I couldn't wait to get her
