RE just told me.....

I have less than a 10% chance of getting pregnant due to poor egg quality. (We thought we just had male issues due to a vasectomy). I feel like I am in the most surreal moment of my life.... like everything has just stopped and I just feel silence around me.

He didn't say DE was the way yet and of course I would consult with other REs to confirm his analysis of my two fresh cycles and blood work.

Such an odd moment. Wow. And yet, I wonder if this was the sign I needed to commit myself to adoption or give one last try for IVF and then move on to adoption. Hmmm.... DH and I have some interesting chats coming our way in the next few weeks.

Oddly enough, I came home after telling DH the news on the phone and DSS gave me a huge hug. He never hugs me and has no idea what I just found out! It was a sweet moment for sure.

My chances are less. Single digits..

I consulted with another RE..doing other things to help my cause.

Don't give up.

You have to decide what's good for you but people with low chances get pregnant all the time.

I'm so sorry. I have heard that news already from one RE and am expecting to hear it from another tomorrow.

Definitley get copies of your medical records and visit other REs for a 3rd, 4th, 5th opinion.

I'm sorry that you got such definitive answer from your doctor. Just remember, he's only give you statistical average percentage. Everyone's body is different. You should also try another RE for a second opinion. I don't have an words of wisdom for you but here's some for you.

In my opinion you should give it one more try. If you don't you may regret not trying for the rest of your life.

I'm so sorry you are going through this. Like the others said, I'd definitely get a 2nd, 3rd, even a 4th opinion (even if u luv your dr). U always hear about all of these "natural remedies" to improve egg quality----I guess it can't hurt to look into them too.

I am so so so sorry sweetie. This must be such a horribly devasting time for you, but please never give up.

As you see here, there are many women who are given similiar "statictics" and there are women like me who have been dx with unexplained, who can't even be given a statistic or any kind of medical expalnation. Never give up hope, miracles happen all the time.

Like others have said seek other opinions, have you seen Dr. B?

I am so sorry that you had to hear this news. It must be so devastating for you. Don't take it as the final word though. Everyone has their own opinions, but God always has the final say. Seek the advice of other REs for sure. You just might need a fresh perspective. I have also heard stories - and know someone personally - she was told that they wouldn't even do IVF on her because she had no chance of getting pregnant and actually ended up getting pregnant on her own. Take some time to soak it all in first of course. I am here if you need to talk!!!!!!!! I am hoping that this news just leads you to a path to motherhood, whether it be seeing a new RE with new ideas or turning towards adoption.

You guys are just the best. I am actually handling if all very well considering it is earth shattering news. Michelle31 (I think this is correct) I will definitely FM you if we go through adoption.

I know we will check with other REs. Dr. B and some others that have been recommended? Well, I will figure that list out when I am ready to sit down with some other REs and my medical records.

Surreal is the only way I can describe how I feel about it. But, I just have to get other consults and then be still and listen to my instincts, as well as DH's.

Well, sometimes its just worth it to seek another opinion. But, its heart breaking to hear that we have poor quality eggs. I was told that too and I exhausted what i could take (4 IVF's). I know many people who did not produce a lot of eggs but they were of good quality and they went on to have success (some naturally between cycles). So, you never know...anything is possible. Just keep reminding yourself that. Nothing is written in stone...just might mean you have to get tougher to deal with it all. But, you can.
