Re: Re-do on the baby shower?

well, you could phrase it as a "baby sprinkle" as if it were for a 2nd child (since she did have a full shower already)

Or, for those people who are close family and friends, you could do another regular shower.

I know that if it were me and this happened to one of my friends or one of my cousins, I'd definitely go to the 2nd shower. But, it were a neighbor or something like that, I wouldn't go to a second shower...

the bookcase one sounds fine. I also think though that she will get a lot of gifts at the baby's birth.

If it was a close friend or family member, I would defiitely go to the shower and give another gift.

First I'm sorry for your loss.

Since it sounds like your SIL is keeping the gifts I would go with the book shower theme, or maybe just a wishing well type of shower/sprinkle with all smaller gifts.

Re: Re-do on the baby shower?

I would go to another shower if it were for family or a very close friend. However, I would be reassured about going if I knew the mother to be was OK with it, that it wasn't a surprise that she wouldn't be prepared for. I am not sure how you would do that - maybe word of mouth, but if I just got an invitation to a shower under these circumstances, I might feel uncomfortable going if I thought the mom didn't know it was going to happen. I say "go for it!" I commend your sister for being so optimistic with her first one regardless of the chances for a healthy baby.

I don't see why she shouldn't have another shower just don't ask for the big things since she already has them. I love the book idea.

I think there should absolutely be another shower- under the circumstances I certainly would not mind being a part of another shower- and I certainly don't feel you NEED to make it a bookcase shower unless you want to- I think a regular shower would be just fine.

If I was invited, because of the circumstances, I wouldn't hesitate to. I love the idea of a book case shower.

I would absolutely go to another shower and bring a gift, especially considering the circumstances. I think it's fine if she were to set up a small registry with whatever little things she might still need. There's always things you need for a baby. I don't think you HAVE to make it a bookcase shower, though I like the "sprinkle" idea. But I would think that the 2nd time around, she would want it to feel like a "normal pregnancy" also, so why not a normal shower.
