RE agent charging sneaky fees!
I just closed on my new home last week and want to warn everyone about some sneaky fees that RE agents are charging these days.
If you're selling a home or in the process please make sure to review your settlement charges so that you're not slapped with sneaky junk fees (sometimes labelled as 'admin fee') charged by brokers.
I got slapped with a $250 'listing fee' on top of a 5% flat commission just recently. My attorney just paid it as part of my closing costs not knowing what it was. It was too late to dispute it then but I'll be visiting my broker next week to find out what the fee is all about. You would think the cost of listing a property should be part of the marketing cost paid by agents/brokers.
Junk fees like that are considered illegal according to the HUD.

Re: RE agent charging sneaky fees!
The only agency I know that does that (there could be others) is Prudential. I don't understand WHY they do this. I am an agent and would rather eat the cost myself than have to ask my client for even more than they are already paying.

Re: RE agent charging sneaky fees!
Curious - where these fees in the listing agreement you signed?
