Rash from yogurt

I gave my dd 1 yr today yo baby yogurt the past 3 days. Today she had a horrible rash covering her chest belly and back and neck. Red small bumbs. She wasn't cranky or anything. I gave her yogurt when she was around 6 months or so. And she had a different kind of reaction(she was rubbing her younger in the roof of her mouth grabbing her throat and crying) the dr told me to try again when she's 1. So I did. We go Tuesday for her well visit so I'll ask questions then. I guess I'll hold off on the milk for now too. Has anyone's dc had a reaction like this to yogurt if so why? What was the outcome? Are they allergic to milk as well?

Re: Rash from yogurt

I tried yogurt when was son was 7 months. His face turn bright red (the 3 days I tried it). He went to the allergist at 8 months and it turne out he was not allergic to milk/dairy, but was highly allergic to eggs, peanuts, tree nuts, cats & dogs. I have no idea why he reacted to the yogurt! I tried yogurt again closer to 1yr and he was totally fine. We use Dr Strauss in Commack.

Re: Rash from yogurt

Definitely get allergy testing. I gave DD baby yogurt at 6 months and she was vomiting for hours afterward. A week later I gave her pureed mac and cheese and again hours of vomiting. At 11 months she was tested for allergies and sure enough she has a milk allergy. She can't have milk, yogurt, cheese, etc. Now she has yogurt made with coconut milk, and drinks almond milk. I also went to Dr. Strauss, but his Westbury office. Loved them. ETA: I have to go back at the end of this year for re-testing - we're hoping she grows out of it.

Rash from yogurt

My DD had a similar reaction to yogurt and would get red from cheese. We had her allergy tested around 8 or 9 mo and it came back positive for dairy. She's basically allergic only to raw dairy; cheese, uncooked milk and yogurt. Sometimes butter bothers her, but sometimes not. It's a mild allergy and getting better all the time but now at almost 2.5, she still hasn't fully outgrown it.

Similar to PP, my DD has a mild allergy to uncooked milk and cheese but she's fine with yogurt. She gets red splotches on her face when she has a reaction.
