Random vomiting question
So for the past three night right after my son falls asleep at bed time he vomits. Not everything in his stomach but a good amount. He still has a bottle before bed. No crying no fever nothing. He doesn't do it during the day at all or at nap time. He has had some looser diapers but other than that acting totally normal. We clean him up put him back in and give him some water in his bottle and he goes right back down and sleeps through the night. Any ideas. Its just so weird.

He is 16 months.
babies don't get strep so I wouldn't worry its that.
Maybe the bottle before bed is too much for him. Have you tried cutting it out?
I would say maybe a stomach virus but its weird it happens only at bed time.

Not true! My 22 month old daughter just had it last month.
I asked about age because reflux is more common with babies under a year when their digestive tracts are more immature. By 16 months, typically, the digestive tract isn't the issue.
My unprofessional opinion, though, is that it may be strep, or at the very least a post nasal drip. It drips into the child's belly and makes them nauseous.

Reflux is usually its worst in infants through a year of age. If you havent seen signs of relux yet i wouldnt think it is that. PS- im in reflux hell with my 5 month old now - ugh

Random vomiting question
This is so weird. I just put in a call to my DS (5yo) ped because he has been randomly vomiting. It's been only 1x a day but its happened the last 4 out of 5 days. I wonder if that's why!

My ped doesn't test for strep before 2 if I remember correctly. Something about that they treat it bc it can cause heart issues but that doesn't happen in kids until they are at least 2.

I don't understand that. There's nothing magical that happens at 2 years old that children suddently become un-immune to strep. Untreated strep throat can cure up on its own. But it can also lead to kidney damage or rheumatic fever.

I don't get it either but my doctor told me babies do not get strep. I don't remember why but this was what I was told

That doesn't make sense to me either, especially since you are tested for Strep B in the hospital, and given antibiotics if you have it since it can be passed to baby. But, I googled, and this came up
??When baby gets a fever, both parents and pediatricians want to be sure a treatable source of infection is not missed. During this time, many parents ask if their baby could have strep throat. The short answer is that babies rarely need to be treated for strep throat.
In children over the age of 3, the bacteria that causes strep throat can cause significant complications if untreated. The bacteria can cause trouble in a child's kidneys, skin, and heart—the infection should not be missed! However, we don't see those complications in infants. Even if an infant may have evidence of the strep bacteria in his or her mouth, antibiotic treatment is not necessary.
Untreated strep can lead to PANDAS also.

It's not that they can't get strep, it's that they are not at risk for the complications that older children are.
As far as strep b that's a totally different thing.

Re: Random vomiting question
I am having the same issue with my 16 month old right now. She is perfectly fine during the day - no drippy nose, no coughing, no fever, diapers are normal. The only thing that is different is she seems to be eating a little less than usual. She is eating though. However we put her down at 8pm and around midnight/1am, every night she is up coughing/gagging/vomiting. It's been going on for a week now. I'm mostly just assuming it's some sort of post nasal related thing, but it's very strange. I'm not even sure if I should bring her to the doctor because I can't imagine what they'd do for her.

Random vomiting question
So I took him to the Dr. yesterday and he was kind perplexed. He ruled it as a virus but there was no more puke last night. As for the Strep comment above that is absolutely not true since my son tested positive for strep two months ago (14 months old) and we ended up in the ER with 104.2 fever. My daughter has also had strep 4 times since she was 1 and she now 3.
