Racing Heart Palpitations?? HELP!

Does anyone else get a 'racing heart' once in a while. I got it 3x this week .. once at work and twice while trying to go to sleep. SHould I be concerned? I try not to overanalyze every single symptom, but I don't want to miss calling the doctor if I have to ... thoughts?

Are you overly stressed lately? That could do it I think.

I never had this though -sorry! Try to relax and keep yourself hydrated. It could also be because it is hot out now.Chat Icon

It happened to me at the beginning.

You will need to mention it to your Dr. They may want you to "monitor" it a bit.

Re: Racing Heart Palpitations?? HELP!

since your blood volume is increasing so much, it could be a result of that.

I know I had it a few times at the beginning and thought maybe it was just panic attacks, but it passed....

I wouldnt freak or worry now...but mention it next time at the Dr's if it doesnt get any better, or call if it gets worse ( a few times a day) ..

Thanks ladies. It hasn't happened often at all, just a few random times ... but 2x while laying down. I'll keep an eye on it and call if it continues.

I've been getting them lately too. I was wondering the same thing. I got them 3x when I was falling asleep. They only last a minute or two. I haven't spoken to the doctor, but I may ask him at my next appt. I'll let you know what he says.

I get it a few times a week I think. Tell your doc about it though, mine doesn't seem that concerned because I used to have palpitations before pg.

I had it a few times this week, especially when I stood up from sitting down. I was thinking it was my thyroid, since they adjusted my meds a few weeks ago.

Re: Racing Heart Palpitations?? HELP!

I've had this a few times myself and was wondering if it could be blood pressure? I've never had any blood pressure problems before but that was all I could think of. I plan on asking my OB next week about it

racing heart could be a lot of things so I would mention it to your doctor - it could be anything from being slightly dehydrated, leanind on a vein/artery etc, to nothing at all, to a problem.

Does it happen if you increase your fluids?

Re: Racing Heart Palpitations?? HELP!

i get palpitations every so often when i'm not pregnant. it usually happens when my body is stressed out, like in the morning after a night on call with no sleep.

now that i'm pregnant i still get them a couple times a week. happens mostly when i'm lying down on my right side Chat Icon ... which could be just a coincidence.

i'd mention it to your doc the next time you see him or her, but i wouldn't worry too much about it. Chat Icon
