Quilt sets...to get/not to get
Please help me ladies... Ive been reading that quilt sets are a rip off...you dont use the quilt, the bumpers, the diaper stacker. The bargins book said just get a fitted sheet and put the baby in a sleep sac. Is this true? Would it be a waste? TIA!

Re: Quilt sets...to get/not to get
Well it depends. Technically you're not supposed to have any sort of blankets in the crib with the baby when they're still tiny, they could move around, up and over their faces so they could hinder or stop their breathing. This being when they're too small to move the blanket away themselves. If you really want to get it, then get it, keep it in the crib for when company comes so it looks cute, but take it out when you actually put the baby in to sleep. Plus, when they get older but are still in the crib, you will give them blankets at that point so you can use them then.

Re: Quilt sets...to get/not to get
I registered for them, but am seriously debating taking them off, because I think they are really just for show.
ETA: I decided to take them off. We would need two of them and I think that money could be better spent elsewhere. I put breathable bumpers on instead. I will use sheets and sleepsacks.

We arent do a bedding set because I won't be using the blanket. Instead woe are registering and having a custom bed skirt and bumper made. I will probabyl use the bumpers for a few months and then remove them

the quilt itself is an definite waste, its too big to be put on a baby. Unless you want it for "show" I wouldn't bother with it. The bumper I have used since day 1 and continue to use it even now at 18 months.

I never used my quilt but I did hang it on the wall and I did like having it for decoration. If you don't plan to do something like that then definitely skip the set.

I use the bumper, the crib dust ruffle and the crib sheet. The quilt goes on my glider.
I like to put a softer crib sheet on that is made of chamois, so I alternate between the one that came with the set and the softer one.
