quick question (shower related)
I know I am going to have a fairly small shower - inviting about 50, I know at least 10 that definitely won't show. I'm not expecting gifts from those that aren't able to come. Most of the guests will consist of my family and friends. DH's family is VERY small. My family is not exactly known for being generous, and I'm not upset about that. My friends will probably get together to chip in for a bigger item. My concern is, knowing all this, I'm afraid DH and I are going to have to purchase a lot of the stuff we need ourselves.
If you had a smaller shower, and didn't receive a lot of gifts, how much of your registry did you have to purchase yourself?

We had a small shower (35 ppl) and received most of our large items (stroller, monitor, crib) except the infant carrier, and plenty of gift cards to buy the things we needed. We were surprised to receive gifts from people that were not able to attend.
We did not go crazy with registering though and only planned on getting the necessities.

At my shower, we had about 50 people, we got almost everything on our registry. You'll be surprised how many things you'll get for your little one. And, you can always return things for necessary ones. Don't worry about it until you have to.

I went into my pregnancy fully prepared to buy anything and everything if need be. I only had maybe 30 at my shower and many bought clothes and not registry items. So we bought most.
But I will tell you. You really don't need half the stuff. Most things are a luxury if you really don't have money. Car seat bottles crib stroller. You don't need all the bells and whistle things.

You'd be surprised....I had about 40 people at my shower. We got all of the big gifts except for the high chair and got just about everything off of our registry. You'd be surprised how generous some people are.
