Quick question - help!

I recently had a leak from my bathroom and through the ceiling in the garage. We fixed the leak, but now the whole ceiling of the garage is turning black from mold.

We are going away for 2 weeks tomorrow, and I'm wondering what the consensus is on whether I need to get it taken care of before/while I'm away or if I can wait till I get back.

Thanks!

Mold grows and spreads so even if the leak was fixed just to make sure it doesnt to continue to spread I would atleast cut out that section of sheetrock and make sure everything underneath is dry. You can finish the rest of the repairs when you get back.

This is what I would do. Since you're leaving tomorrow, I would just tear out large sections of the damaged drywall with a hammer, or my hands, and worry about the cleanup when I got back. You really want to get air into the damaged area so it can fully dry.

Re: Quick question - help!

Thank you for the advice! My husband doesn't have time to do it before we leave, and I am sort of afraid of doing it myself. Not sure what to do, but I think I'm going to call a handyman.
