Quick PSA for Pregnant Ladies re: riding a Segway

This weekend was our first anniversary, and one of the things we planned was to do a segway tour of Asheville (where we spent our anniversary weekend). We had done a segway tour of Paris on our honeymoon and it was one of the most fun experiences we had the entire trip in France! You cover so much ground, and they're super fun to ride!

Anyway, I called the guy in Asheville and asked him if it would be ok if I do the tour even though I'm pregnant -- not even 4 months yet (I'm 16 w and a few days now) -- and he said he didn't see any problem with it, especially since we had experience from last summer with it (the Paris tour was 3 hours, including training).

This little PSA is mostly for in the future for women doing a google search or something wondering if a pregnant woman should ride a segway.

Don't. Bad idea. Step away from the electric gyroscope. <sigh>

I work out 4 days a week (albeit a little less and lighter than I used to, but still). I think I'm in pretty good shape. I certainly can stand on a segway!

I got on that thing, and rode around for about 10 minutes before I started getting SUPER dizzy. I stepped off and sat down on the curb for a moment and felt better so I got back on. Just moments later, I started getting even more dizzy, only this time I started to black out too.

I tried a few more times, but quickly realized there was no way I was going to make it a few hours through a tour. I don't know if it was the standing, the heat, or the combination of the two, along with the fact that it's a self-balancing machine. But pregnant women should not be riding a segway.

I googled it later and saw that most segway tours don't allow you to ride when your pregnant. I really didn't think it would be a big deal (especially since I don't even have a belly yet or anything). But alas... no segway tour for me.
