Questions...
DS is turning 7 months tomorrow. He got the second round of his flu shot on Fri and since then has been having some trouble sleeping (not sure if its a coincidence or related). He generally sleeps from 6-7pm until 6-7am without waking. But he's been waking up the past few nights. He'll settle down and go back in his crib, to just wake again a hour later when we end up taking him into bed with us, he'll then sleep soundly. He hasn't had his regular BM's for about a week, didn't go at all yesterday and today he finally went and it was hard. So 2 questions - 1) besides bringing him into bed and CIO, any other suggestions to get him back to sleeping through the night again? Could this just be a phase? 2) Anything I can do it get his bm's back on track? Prune juice helps but makes him gassy. He's on solids and sensitive formula.

Sounds like he might be teething. As always, as soon as you have the sleeping down pat, something will change. The next few months may be hard at times since so much pain. Good Luck. I have 2yr old twins & still teething.
Also, be careful about bringing him iinto your bed. If he continues to wake up at same time EX; 3am every night...it's cause he knows it time to go to your bed.

Questions...
DD had trouble sleeping last year after both rounds of the flu shot but thankfully this year she was fine. It doesn't seem common but it happens to me too.
I agree with the PP. I always found if DD was thrown off for one night for a particular reason and I would get her, she would continue to wake for a few nights out of habit or just expecting me to get her. No real advice, just maybe try to wait it out a good 10 or 15 minutes to see if he'll go back down. I also always put DD back in her crib after 15-20 minutes of snuggles so she never stayed in our bed all night.

Re: Questions...
my first thoughts were teething or tummy aches, but my guess is if he was uncomfortable he wouldnt sleep soundly in your bed. but maybe try teething meds before you continue to bring him into bed with you or CIO. i would also give pears or prunes during the day to try to help him go to the bathroom
as the pp mentioned, if you continue to take him to your bed at 3am...he will continue to wake at that hour bc he will want that comfort. dd is 10 months and we still are dealing with a 5am feeding bc we just want sleep (she will eat then sleep til 7-8am)...i know she doesnt NEED the feeding, its the comfort and snuggles she wants at that hour.

Questions...
I really don't want to start a bad habit with the co sleeping. I watched him on the monitor last night for a hour. He was whining, fell asleep, and then woke up a few minutes later. I'm thinking his belly hurt from not pooping. After a hour he got frustrated and started crying. I went in and got him and rocked him. I put him back in his crib and he woke up a hour later crying. That's when I brought him in. he's generally such a great nighttime sleeper that I tend to think there is something really bothering him when he wakes. Hopefully he'll get back on track soon!!

Re: Questions...
Could be teething but also sounds like dehydration. Is he drinking enough water?

Questions...
He drinks no water really...but I did give him some last night to settle him since he doesn't take a pacifier. How much can I give him safely? He's been drinking his formula...

Re: Questions...
My LO has been pooping ok but since I have stomach problems I asked the ped what to do if the baby is constipated in anticipation of the problem.
She said use a q-tip and manually stimulate his rectum. (Luckily I haven't done this but it makes sense..)
Here's hoping you get back to a good sleeping pattern.

Re: Questions...
I gave my son an ounce or two of fennel or chamomile tea with 1/8 tsp of sugar when he had tummy issues. Or you can give him the water with sugar, or add an oz to his formula. It helps settle the stomach and the sugar helps with constipation. Sleep problems are normal when they don't feel well.

Maybe I should give him the colic calm if he wakes up...it has both chamomile and fennel

DS has been drinking water from his sippy since 6 months old. It shouldn't be so much water so as to replace formula, but it can be enough to keep him hydrated. DS was that age during the summer and he went 3 hours w/o a wet diaper and from then on I started with the water. Your son could have the opposite - the heat could dehydrate him. Try offering water and see what happens.

Will do!!
As for giving tylenol, should I give it at bedtime (which is between 6 and 7) or if he wakes in the middle of the night? He's sleeping until 3ish then waking. Tylenol would be out of his system by then anyway right?

ITA with everything.
As far as the constipation have you tried jarred prunes? Maybe that will be easier gas wise over the juice. It works for my dd.
Also, has your LO started crawling yet? Dd has slept beautifully since 10 weeks old, but right before she started to crawl she had sleeping issues. Then again before walking. They say this can happen right before major milestones.Good luck.

He is so close to crawling...he can get up on his hands and knees...can't sit yet but that's another post LOL How did you deal with the sleep issues?
I haven't spoken to the babysitter again yet, I did tell her to give him some of the jarred prunes since she said he wasn't really interested in drinking the prune juice.

See ,my Dd started teething and was close to crawling when the sudden waking started. At first I freaked and thought she was regressing. Then held my breath and prayed. Lol. We let her CIO from an early age so I just watched her on the monitor when this started. At first she would cry for a second and fuss around and eventually go back to sleep. (I was afraid to start a bad habit going in there when she was always a great sleeper.) Then after a night or two of watching her wake up for no reason I noticed she started "practicing"crawling. The craziest thing. Like her poor little brain couldn't shjut it off. She would get on all fours and rock back and forth all around her crib then go back to sleep. She did this for about a month then started crawling. From the first day she actually started to crawl she stopped waking. Then the waking and fussing for no reason started again for a few weeks around 17months. She started walking unassisted a few weeks later and it stopped. Now she's about to have the word explosion and she's done it a bit here and there waking or taking hours to sleep while talking to herself. I wish I had a better answer for the sleeping for you , but what worked for me was letting DD be . As far as the prunes, I give my dd a container a day even at almost 20 months because it keeps her regular. I notice a total difference when she doesn't eat them. Oh, and we used little tummys gripe water a lot which I swore helped with gas and sleeping. Hope this helps.
