Question: what does this mean?

So I communicate A LOT with the president of my organization.

I have been told to run EVERYTHING past him, no matter how small.

So I asked him if it was okay to send a VIP person a framed photo of them in the thank you I was writing.

My boss says to me "Of course. Please don't nickel and dime me to death! I trust your judgment."

Does this mean he is saying don't bother him with every minute detail or is he really talking about $$$ meaning he thinks the framed photo will cost a lot

Re: Question: what does this mean?

I think he means that you don't have to run every single thing past him.

Re: Question: what does this mean?

My guess would be that he means details, not to tell him every little thing. Which is confusing, since he apparently did want you to at some point...

I think he means don't bother him with every minute detail, which includes sending a thank you.

I'm sure he'd want you to run things by him on a larger scale.

that's a touchy issue - i think you need to clear things up with him, maybe via email. he should be the one clarifying things for you, how would you know what is "too small"!

and yes, i think he is referring to the question about the photo, not the cost of the frame.

Re: Question: what does this mean?

I think you need to clarify with him what his expectations are....does he want you to run EVERYTHING by him, like you were told or not ? He sounds quite charming Chat Icon Chat Icon

I think it means don't buy a really expensive frame.

Me too. I think he means that if you're going to do this for a lot of VIPs, find inexpensive frames.
