Question regarding finding out the sex
So DH and I found out we are having a boy yesterday. Some family members (my brother, BIL, and MIL) told us that they don't want to know the sex and want it to be a surprise. Does anyone else have this problem? Does anyone else find this extremely strange?

I don't think it is too strange....I think they just want to be surprised. Make sure you enjoy it though

Re: Question regarding finding out the sex
If it were me, I wouldn't worry about hiding it. Not their kid, not their decision. If you want to tell the world you should.
What are they going to do, avoid looking at your registry? Or do they want you to register for all green/yellow?

Re: Question regarding finding out the sex
My dad doesn't want to know so we haven't told anyone on my side of the family, only my mom. My mom has had no problem keeping it a secret either! DH's side knows but we try not to mingle families. It wasn't a problem for us but I also didn't have a shower. I personally don't care that he wants it to be a surprise but I also can't wait to tell him what we're having!

Re: Question regarding finding out the sex
Well the whole point of finding out was so that I could get pink or blue for my registry. My brother and BIL won't be at my shower but my MIL. I just don't get why someone would think it is their decision..

i dont think its strange- but if other people are going to know the sex- it might be obvious if MIL attends your shower

this is a great point. it is NOT anyone's decision but yours. don't worry about "telling" her - she'll see if she looks on your registry or goes to your shower. it is not your problem at all. she needs to put on her big girl panties.

Re: Question regarding finding out the sex
my FIL didnt want to know the sex with a passion and we were doing so good. Well MIL got annoyed with DH and blasted her ex husband and told him. So that surprize is now ruined for us.

I wouldn't concern myself with it too much---if they find out, they find out. It's not your issue.

Re: Question regarding finding out the sex
I've heard of this often but honestly, it's their problem not yours. Go ahead and register for whatever you want, do what you want. Don't out and out say "I'm having a boy" but certainly don't taper your celebration of your baby boy b/c other people would prefer you didn't find out.
