Question for those with gene mutations
I had trouble conceiving my DS. I had 2 miscarriages. After 2 years we conceived him via injectables with IUI's. I went for a regular physical last week and the PA asked if I wanted the MTHFR gene tested. I said sure, whats the harm. He called yesterday to say I came back with 2 gene mutations. One A and one C mutation (can't remember the #s after them). If you had this, what was the protocol going forward? They mentioned going to a hematologist, is that necessary? We were going to try on our own for a while, now I am not sure

Re: Question for those with gene mutations
I have this...
Since you carried your other pregnancy fine with no clots/issues, that's a great sign. I was told to take baby aspirin and lovenox in pregnancy, but I have many other issues besides the two copies of MTHFR so you may not need the aspirin AND the lovenox, for example. Just ask Dr.B. I don't see a hematologist for my issues. I saw one once and she looked at me like I was nutty.
eta: Ohhh I forgot, metanx. You will probably be told to take that.... it's a form of folic acid. It's just a pill.

Question for those with gene mutations
I have the mutations and take baby aspirin, folic acid and b12 shots.....also on lovenox but have another blood clotting issue. I see a hematologist. Can't hurt to meet with one. Don't know where you are located but my hematologist is great and has offices in riverhead and southampton. Dr avvento

Oh Jackie don't you remember Dr.B told me I "could" take baby asprin if I wanted LOL. I took it the whole time based on my craziness, now I am glad I am so crazy
