Question for those with a 4x4 vehicle
I got an oil change last week and they recommended changing all my 4x4 fluids. It's like $75, just wondering if its necessary.

valvoline...I didn't do it yet. I was asking before I decided whether or not to do it.
Do I need to get the fluids changed at all? I've had the car for 2 years and never did it.

Re: Question for those with a 4x4 vehicle
nope - Just get your oil changed. Also check your air filter before you go there. If it has been a while since you changed it, have them change it or buy it at autobarn and do it yourself.
Dont rely on what they say. They can tell you it is dirty, when it is clean and then you would never know if it was changed or not - and they will charge you for it

Thanks Scott! My DH just gave me a big "I told you so!!!" I always do what these people tell me to. He also wants to know why I believe you and not him

Re: Question for those with a 4x4 vehicle
Well my DH (an auto body and car mechanic) does recommend getting the differentials (gear oil) changed around 60,000 miles. It is the oil for the 4x4 transfer case. It also talks about it in the manual of your car under the service plan.

Exactly what 4x4 fluids cost more, I wonder? (not directed at you...ask them that).

Thanks! I only have 17,000 on the car. So I guess I'm good for awhile.
You all just saved me $75.
