Question for those that vacation without LO

Is seven nights too much? I'm looking to finalize travel plans to the caribbean for our anniversary, and before we had DD we'd always go for seven nights, but suddenly now I'm wondering if we should do five?

DD will be 13-months-old and she will be cared for by my mom while we're away.

Will seven nights feel like eternity? Or should I just go for it?

Re: Question for those that vacation without LO

I would think 7 nights would be a lot.
Not only for me to be away from my DD but for my mom to watch her.
That's a long time to watch a 13 months old.
I'd be more comfortable with 5.

I totally agree. We are leaving my daughter with my mom in July. She will be 5 months. We are only going for 4 nights. I couldn't handle leaving her any longer.

We have have left dd a bunch of times starting at 10mo. The longest I would feel comfortable that young is 4 or 5 nights honestly.

I agree with everyone else. 4 or 5 nights is probably best.

For both my sanity and my moms i wouldnt/couldnt leave for more than 4 days, 3 night. Its enough time to lay on the beach and relax but short enough i wont go crazy wondering what my kids are doing.

You have to do what YOU are comfortable with as well as your mom. I personally wouldn't be able to do more than 4 nights probably. But if you need or even just want the 7 and you can do it, then I say GO FOR IT!

I guess I'm the odd ball, but we booked a trip before I really thought about, we are going next month when dd is 9 months. She's in good hands, and I have a big family all ready to help. We are going for 7 nights. I'm nervous as all hell now, but I also know that this will prob be one of the last trips we do like this for a long time, so I am looking forward to it! I say if you wanna do it, go for it!!

Re: Question for those that vacation without LO

We just got back from our vacation without DD. We were gone for 4 nights. But, we left on a Thursday morning after she woke up, so we saw her in the morning, and got back on a Monday night, before she went to bed. So there were only 3 full days that we didn't see her. And I WFT, so i'm used to being away from her for long periods of time... nevertheless, it was hard for me - at first. Once I was there and relaxed and knew she was okay (I checked in via email a couple of times a day) I was more than able to enjoy myself. I could have done another day or two away even though I was missing her- but that's also because I know it will probably be a while before we can do that again.
