Question for those of you that pump
Due to an infection, I have a great deal of pain when breastfeeding. I can usually tolerate it up to two times a day. Other than that, I pump and give him the bottle. I am having a really hard time with a schedule. I feel like I feed DS the bottle, burp him, change him, then I have to put him down to pump. I usually put him in his bouncy seat, but by the time I am done pumping, he is asleep again. I feel like I am totally ignoring him when he is awake and that we are not bonding enough because I have to pump. After pumping, I run around and throw in laundry or grab a quick bite to eat and then he wakes up and we start all over again. I really feel like I am neglecting him and that I should be taking advantage of the awake time with him, playing, reading, singing, etc. Does anyone have any advice? Oh, he's almost 6 weeks old. . . .Will this get better?

Oh it will def get better
I had an infection on both my nips, I was still able to nurse if I wanted too, I just had to wipe the bacratracin off before feeding DD. I know how that feels...
But I wound up pumping too, just remember it's only temporary and it's good that he gets a little bit of alone time
You are A GREAT MOMMY!!

Re: Question for those of you that pump
Hang in there! In the beginning it's a lot of work but it will all balance out in the end. I used to have to pump for a long time to express milk....now 10 minutes= 6ounces. You said DC is 6 weeks....honestly, your DC should mostly be sleeping. More "quality" time will come as time goes on. You shouldn't beat yourself up over this. You are making a wonderful commitment to DC by sticking with BF even though it's painful and difficult. I second the PP sentiment....you are doing a great job as a mommy!!!

Re: Question for those of you that pump
Hang in there! At this point, all he really needs is to eat and sleep. I used to put my daughter next to me in the bouncy and sing to her while I pumped. What a sight that was! But, she was so miserable all the time due to a milk allergy, that I couldn't even put her down some days and would pump with one hand and hold her with another. It will work itself out, and don't feel like you are neglecting him. He will be just fine. Be grateful that he will fall asleep in his bouncy so that you have time to pump
