question for the pros
I had my first appointment today with a RE. He order a SA for my husband, did blood work on me, a sono which was abnormal, and said he will see me in two weeks. He is leaning towards that my issue is ovulation problems. I keep seeing here that everyone has blood work done on day 3 and 21 of their cycle. Today is day 8 for me of my cycle. Should I have had that blood work done or am I just worrying too much?? TIA

Re: question for the pros
They will probably have you do the day 3 FSH next cycle since it passed already, they wouldn't do it on day 8. Most likely have you do an HSG as well to check for tube blockage but depends on what they find...everyone is different.

Re: question for the pros
first, what was abnormal about the sono?
if u r not doing a medicated cycle this one cycle that is prob why your not coming in for blood and sono..usually you go in during to see how well you are responding to the meds
what cd was the blood taken on? do you ovulate normally?
sorry for all the questions

Re: question for the pros
This was my first visit. He did blood work and sono. He said in two weeks he will have me come back and he will discuss treatment options then once he has the blood work and SA back. That's why I am confused. I thought he would of done more tests then just those. Could it be because he thinks I am not ovulating? I am so confused because my sister used him a few years ago with the same medical problems and he seemed to do a lot more tests right off the bat.

Re: question for the pros
blood and sono r the basic starter tests..he is prob telling u to come back in 2 weeks bc if u r going to do a medicated cycle u need to start the meds on certain cycle days
the only other tests i can see them giving u is a hsg to check your tunes, otherwise u r taking the right steps
what is the diagnosis they are giving you?

Re: question for the pros
Usually that blood work and sono is to check for abnormalities in the uterus and do blood panels not related to the hormones of your cycle, like thyroid and clotting for instance.
My first cycle with an RE was just a monitoring cycle in which they did all the testing of my reproductive hormones with no treatment. My first appt was in the middle of a cycle, so we started this after I got AF. Then the second cycle we started medicated IUI. I would guess the 2 week appt is to talk about the bloods that came back and the plan going forward.

Re: question for the pros
My first RE appt. happened mid cycle so they did a bunch of genetic testing...I had already had an HSG & SA but if I hadnt they would have done that...I came back on CD3 for blood & sono to start a new clomid/IUI cycle.
