Question for the moms of early talkers . . .

Were your DC early babblers?

DS was a LATE talker and now that I'm thinking back to him as an infant, he didn't babble early or a lot. He babbled enough where I wasn't concerned early, but not an overt amount.

Now DD on the otherhand babbles like a chatterbox, all of the time.

I'm just curious if there is any correlation.

Tyler babbled more than Jack did for sure. I can't get the kid to shut up. Chat Icon So, in my case there was a correlation Chat Icon

Aidan was an early talker and babbled like crazy! He never shut up!

Julian also babbled but not as much as Aidan. He is not as advanced in the speech dept. as Aidan was.

Re: Question for the moms of early talkers . . .

DD babbled but not much. She spent more time listening.

She was an early talker with 2-3 word combos by 1 full sentences, proper tenses, conjugation and plurals by 2 years old. She had most of the exceptions by 3, and now at 4 her vocabulary blows me away.

I think it's so different from kid to kid, my nephew barley made a peep (unless he was all out wailing) until 3 but is now an absolutely brilliant, and very talkative 10 year old.

Benjamin was an early talker and just keeps going. Wakes up talking, talks all day, goes to sleep talking.

Ethan was also an early talker but he does not talk as much as his big brother. Unless we're some where I need him to be quiet. Then you can't get him to zip it!Chat Icon

I don't know if DS is considered an early talker, he said nothing till 12m really, and then exploded at 15m and 18m ... with sentences and stories

He was not a babbler... I was even really concerned that he wasn't. But he was doing a lot with his mouth, making all kind of raspberry noises, doing a lot of different kind of screaming nosies, and growling. It wasn't normal I thought lol

this is exactly like my husband, he's a very well rounded, intelligent, he speaks so well that he's been asked to lecture and teach and can do it in 2 languages, and he's a physician.

Oh I know this. I'm not saying it's a predictor or indicator of intelligence, I'm just curious as to the babbling/talking correlation.
