Question for the AR mommies
I was curious it seems a lot of babies are being diagnosised with this lately. Have your doctors told you what might be causing this? I am not trying blame or point fingers. I am just trying to understand why it seems so many lately. Do you think prior to them having AR medicine (When we were kids maybe) your babies would have just been considered colicy? Do they think that it's anything having to do with the fact that we eat more processed food than years ago?
Please don't take offense I am just trying to educate myself in case when we decide to have number 2 we are faced with this.

Re: Question for the AR mommies
I discussed this with my brother (who is an ob, not a ped) and he said he thinks babies with ar used to just be considered colicy. Now they just call it something different.

I agree they used to group all babies as colic but AR is VERY different than colic and it is very painful to these little ones.
Sometimes I think I gave it to my poor baby because I had so much anxiety during my pregnancy. Silly I know but sometimes I wonder.
The real thing is that the sphincter isn't closed properly and it allows the stomach contents to propel back up.

Jen - don't think that!! I was the MOST RELAXED prego - honestly I did nothing but swim and lay out and read and he has AR. I don't know why it seems so common - my - my pedi told me it's more common to have a baby w/ AR than without!
