Question for teachers...

I am a teacher but I haven't been on an interview for 4 years. My sister is currently interviewing for her first teaching position - what questions are being asked now? Also, does anyone have any information on the Bellmore-Merrick District from the teacher's perspective (i.e. atmosphere, collaboration, students, etc.) She will be teaching Foreign Language on the secondary level.

On my one interview, I was asked about collaborative learning, different strategies/classroom management, lesson planning, different learning styles.

My mom is a secondary language teacher. They are hiring for Spanish in her school. FM me if you want more info.

I just got my job this year. When I went on my interview in the summer, they asked me a ton about Balanced Literacy and guided reading.

the big one is - now with NCLB what will you do to ensure that ALL of your students succeed? make sure she is totally ready with differentiated instruction.

I also got questions about cooperative learning, ESL students in the classroom.

Also - Bellmore-Merrick is the district that had the huge hazing problem last year. I would imagine that they would ask something along the lines of student safety.
