Question for NC Girls
My parents are looking at places to retire other than FL, and I suggested NC.
Can anyone really tell me what Cary and Raleigh are like? Compared to each other, compared to NY? I would LOVE to hear about it from people there you know? Not someone trying to sell them a house ... and they definitely can't get a feel for it by just visiting. Oh and my mom hates snow... how's the weather there too??

Well, I'm in Charlotte, and let's put it this way about the weather: I wore short sleeves to work today, had my kids eat outside for lunch, and did some Christmas shopping this evening without wearing a jacket!!! 
We've been here almost 6 months and we love it. I hear the Cary/Raleigh area is like "Little NY"!

Cary is a beauitiful area...VERY nice houses and neighborhoods.

We love the Piedmont Triad Area!
it's not as NY as I hear Cary is and because of that taxes are not as high and your money goes further.
There are plenty of malls and restaurants, we don't miss NY at all!
Oh and we have been setting records this week with high 70s!

So Cary/Raleigh wouldn't be a far leap from NY. That's great, that's one thing they liked about FL. They felt it was like a 2nd NY!
