question for "a friend"
So, I have a friend who is in the 2ww of her first IVF cycle.
She is currently waiting to test before her beta on Thursday and is losing her mind. (just like me weird........)
Should this friend test at 8dp3dt if it's not fmu? She doesn't want to test and then have to run out to work- regardless of the outcome.
The other option is the next night, 9dpo3dt which is the night before the beta. Keep in mind she's going a little crazy.
What should I tell this friend to do?

Re: question for "a friend"
Hard to say. I would probably test as soon as I could at whatever time i could. or - do the test with FMU but don't look at it until you get home that night? just make sure it's not a digital!

Re: question for "a friend"
I would tell your "friend" to "hold it" and not drink too much for the last few hours of her work day, and to test at 8dp3dt with that urine. If it's negative, "she'll" be disappointed, but can still hold out hope that it was because of it being the afternoon and not FMU.

Re: question for "a friend"
I can't with the "friend!"
I usually test the day before the beta in the morning and the day of the beta again in the morning.
I say do whatever you feel like doing. When the time is right, you'll know and you'll do it!

Re: question for "a friend"
Is there a reason your buddy can't test with fmu on 9dp3dt? That's what I would go with (says the ivfer who tested with fmu at 8dp2dt ).

She doesn't want to test and then have to run out the door to work
She did that once... and ended up crying when she got to work (ok .. ok .. that actually happened twice.. so she's learning from her mistakes this time!)

Re: question for "a friend"
I would test at 8dp3dt....but only if I prepared myself that it would probably be negative. I tested the night of 4dp5dt (obviously not fmu). I thought I saw a faint second line on the internet cheapie. I said it can't be. Then I wasn't sure if the line was really there or not (like I said..very faint line). I really and truly was expecting it to be negative.
I didn't want to waste a digital test that early especially without fmu. The next morning (5dp5dt) I tested with fmu and it took forever but pregnant finally popped up on the digital. I also used another internet cheapie later on and again the line was faint, but now I knew it was really there.
Good Luck!!! Sending you tons of

Re: question for "a friend"
I would wait until the night before....that way like you said, your "friend" would be home and if they needed to cry at least they would be home.....Here's to hoping your friend doesn't need to cry, but do a happy dance!!!!

Re: question for "a friend"
Well "my friend" tested all the time.. and found she got a better result not using FMU. She is a little obsessed with testing and did an AM and PM test most days from 5d post 5day transfer to the night before the beta. It made her feel like she had a little more control. So you might want to pass on that info to your "friend."

Re: question for "a friend"
My "friend" is insane and tests from 8dpo with internet cheapies then switches to FRER on 12dpo. She just gets progressively more upset each day that nothing in registering so I'd tell your "friend" to hold out if she could.
Here is some for your friend!

Re: question for "a friend"
Would you believe that my friend just spent the last hour googling 6dp3dt bfp?! (which will be tomorrow, Sunday)
Anyway, she decided to plan nothing and just see how it goes. If she could hold out Tuesday afternoon and make it to Wednesday, she will.
Oh, and she PROMISED to call me immediately with the results which means I'll update the board as soon as I know!
ETA: Thanks everyone!!!!!

Re: question for "a friend"
So hard for you!
I tested at 6dp3dt and got the faintest BFP ever. It was so faint at first I thought it was a negative and started sobbing. A few hours later, I looked at it again in the trash and saw a faint line. I went outside with it, looked at it in different lighting and still wasn't even sure it was a line. 2 days later I got a + on the digital.
Try to hold out until tomorrow if possible.

Re: question for "a friend"
Disclaimer: With my 5 day transfer, I think I might have started testing at 4dp5dt and with my 3 day transfer, I think I started testing at 5dp3dt.
Anyway, you made it way farther than I ever did. It's horrible. Also, I started googling at 3dp3dt. I might have even started the googling sooner than that. Moral of the story, I'm insane. More important moral of the story, wait as long as you can. I think if you wait until 8dp3dt and hold it, that should be a fair shake.
for you!

Your friend is too funny!!
I tested at 6dp3dt (evening) on a dollar HPT and got a faint line...then tested next day at 7dp3dt on a FRER and got a light line again.....I started to test so early only beacuse I am a freak and can't wait for anything...lol
