Question and pics
Hailey has been with us just a week.. shes so smart! She's learned sit and shake. She is n a routine and is understanding housebreaking. However there are times she just squats and pees. When I tell her firmly NO, she doesn't seem effected. Any tips on how to reinforce this is not a behavior that is ok?
Thanks! Here are some pics! Image Attachment(s):

Re: Question and pics
Pick her up during the squat and take her directly outside while saying the "code word" for peeing. then praise her a lot when she goes outside with treats. You have to catch her in the act. She's so cute!

Re: Question and pics
when Bella was a puppy I kept her on a leash in the house because I noticed that she would pee in the corner away from us, this way if she was close to me, I can catch her clues that she has to goto the bathroom.

Re: Question and pics
How often are you letting her out? Are you crating her? She is a real beauty

Re: Question and pics
ITA - treats and lavish praise when she pees outside. if you catch her, just interrupt her, don't scold too harshly or she may be nervous to pee in front of you. the leash idea is fantastic! also keep in mind that puppies tend to pee shortly after drinking, eating, playing and napping. about 20-30 minutes after those activities bring her out to do her business. she is gorgeous!!! what a lovey you have there

Re: Question and pics
Thanks for all the help! We take her out very often and were out all day yesterday... she is not crated but has a room basically while we are at work. She did much better yesterday, I think I do startle her when I yell at her t stop peeing in the house in the middle of her doing it! I'm hoping she starts sending us some signals, might try the leash.. thanks guys!
