Question about windows

Has anyone recently had windows installed in their home? Particularly a garden window?

The main project this year is to rennovate our main living area (kitchen/dinning room/living room). Before construction gets underway we wanted to have a new garden window put in the kitchen. I called up one local place (I'm in Queens) and they quoted me $1950 for a Signington garden window with side vents and two glass shelves.

Maybe I'm just unfamiliar with the price of windows but I thought that was a little high. The window is about 3 feet wide by 4 feet tall.

so I guess my question is: for those of you who installed windows - is that quote decent, mid range or high? and any reccomendations of who I can call for a possibly better estimate?

Re: Question about windows

My Husband used to have his own window company and he said that if you already have the opening for the window that price is high and you should look around. If you dont have the opening already (but it sounds like you do because you said new window) then that price sounds right. Hope this helped!

Thanks! Yes we do already have the opening and as a matter of fact we have a garden window there already too - we just wanted to get a new one.

Looks like I'll have to do some comparitive shopping. Chat Icon Thanks!
