Question about the Anatomy Scan

We're having it really soon and we can't wait to find out the gender. I keep trying to see the moment in my head, but I don't know how to picture it. Does the sono tech ask you if you want to know the gender, put the gel on your belly, and right away tell you, "It's a ___!" Or are you there for a while first, and when the relevant parts come into view, she tells you? Or (heaven forbid!) does the tech draw it out and make you guess or anything? (Nightmare! Just TELL ME!)

I'd love to hear your experiences.

When we found out the gender with my last pregnancy, before the sono even started the sono tech asked us if we were interested in finding out. When she started the sono, she asked if we had any guesses. It was literally the first thing she checked for since she knew we were excited. for us, she asked us if we wanted to know and we told her yes. she went about the regular measurements and pointed out the bladder. DH then said "it must be a girl because it has such a tiny bladder so it's going to have to pee all the time like you do." a few minutes went by and she said "hmm.... who said it was a girl??" and my DH said "I did".

At that point I was so sure she was going to say "you were right!" but instead she said "you are soooooooooo....... wrong!!!" it was kind of fun, and awesome b/c i really hoped and felt like it was a boy.

but I think truthfully they will all do it differently.

Thanks! I didn't know how I was going to make it 10 or 20 minutes on that table if it took that long. But, ugh! Don't make me guess! I have a 50/50 shot, whatever, now just give me the news!

The tech asked us if we wanted to know before starting and then told us that as long as he was cooperating she would tell us. It was the first thing she did during the sono.

At that point I was so sure she was going to say "you were right!" but instead she said "you are soooooooooo....... wrong!!!"

We had 4 different reveals lol.

At 11w the tech asked us if we planned to find out the gender, and we said yes as soon as we can! She smiled and said she was pretty sure we could tell. We asked her to tell us her guess and she said she thought it was a boy.

At 12w we went for our NT and asked the tech if she could tell. She said it was early but if she had to guess she would say boy.

At 16w we had our "real" anatomy scan and told the tech from the onset that we wanted to know the gender and she made us wait until the very end!!! It was torture... and then she froze it on a pic of the ****** (which was very obvious) and I asked if I could guess before she told us. I guessed BOY and she said we were right and printed us a picture.

At 20w we said we knew the gender but wanted her to confirm and pretty early on in the sono but not right away she went to that area and said absolutely a boy haha. She even flipped it to 3d to show us and printed us a few pictures from different angles.

It really depends on the tech!

I'm going to assume different tech's do things a little differently.

For me the lady was looking all over for a while... she was looking at other parts. Then she asked if we wanted to know the sex... to which I instantly replied YES!!!!!!!!!! then she looked for the sex.
