Question about the 12w ultra screen
Ok, what exactly happens at this appt, I know its a finger prick and an ultra sound but is there anything else? I don't want my DH to come if its not that big a deal bc he's going to need to take time other places I'm sure. I mean do you find anything out right then and there?

You don't find anything out right then and there but it is a very cool appt. Its a great sono. You see the baby at all different angles and it was longer than other sonos I had beforehand. IMO it's def worth it if DH can get the time off to go. My DH missed it b/c of work and was so bummed.

Re: Question about the 12w ultra screen
The sono is a little longer than routine ones because of the measurements they need. And some OB's don't do finger prick but a total bloodwork, just a few vials.
That's it.
eta - first pregnancy DH came. This time he didn't bother, he stayed home with DS instead.

Re: Question about the 12w ultra screen
Nothing super special about the 12 w ultrascreen. I was told at 16 weeks they can probably tell you the gender. I'm bringing DH with me to that one.

Re: Question about the 12w ultra screen
Honestly, this is one of those appts that I think your DH should come!
The baby LOOKS like a baby for the first time really, and you can really see it moving around in there. The sonogram takes a little while to do and the entire time you both get to watch your LO on the screen moving their hands & feet and being active.
At later appts., you're mostly just getting monitored and no real sonos are done again until either a genetic sono (if you choose to do it around 16-18 wks) and then the Level II...so I'd have him go!

Re: Question about the 12w ultra screen
I'm going for mine tonight. DH isn't coming because he is staying home with DS. He will definitely come for the Level II.
