Question about swaddling

Any suggestions on how to transition from swaddling? I noticed my DS puts up a fight once in the swaddle and eventually falls asleep. I cant tell if he like's it and is just over tired or hates it!?
I tried swaddling and leaving his hands free, but he had a hard time falling asleep.... Any thoughts??

Re: Question about swaddling

I stopped swaddling when he could break out of it....my DS would calm down once he was all snuggled in the swaddle. We transitioned by starting with one are out first, then both, then no swaddle---took about a week for him to get used it! GL!

When I swaddle him at night, he grunts and kicks for 20 min's....Does this mean he doesnt like it? I dont want to force it on him.

Not at all. It just means you have a very active baby! Chat Icon Mine is the same way. If we didn't swaddle him, he'd be up every 2 hours at night. When we swaddle him... well, he's now sleeping through the night at 11 weeks. Chat Icon

THe poor guy works himself up so much by flaring his arms and legs... that he can't sleep. I think it's because he had very little room in my belly and it comforts him to be swaddled.
