Question about sushi
I know that you can't have sushi when you are pregnant. I was thinking of just having the cooked "sushi." Like eel, crabsticks, and shrimp tempura rolls.
However, I am worried about cross contamination because the sushi chefs don't clean off their knives between sushi preparations.
Did anyone have the cooked rolls while pregnant, or talk to their doctor about it?

Re: Question about sushi
I had/have cooked rolls.
There are some who worry about the cross contamination, but if you go to a reputable place you should be good.
plus if you wanted, you could probably ask them to use a new knife and cutting board........

Re: Question about sushi
just mention to the sushi chef when you order that you are pregnant. they are good about using different knives and such.

Re: Question about sushi
I had shrimp tempura while i was prego.. but it was at the very end of the pregnancy.. I say if your really worried about it, just wait until the preg. is over.. Its not like your pregnant forever, though it feels like it.

Re: Question about sushi
I had an eel roll and a crab/shrimp/tempura flake roll this weekend!! MMMMMM it was so good! I've had cooked sushi here and there this whole pregnancy, and I have never gotten sick.

Re: Question about sushi
I never thought of the cross contamination from the knives, good point.
I had sushi when I was preggo but before my BFP. I've been fine. I haven't had it since then, but thats because I had blue fin tuna and the next day had raw oysters so I think I've overdone my mecury limit for the month!
This list is really helpful: Sushi, Seafood....what to eat and what to avoid...
