Question about STAR program
I filed before the 2009 deadline and we were approved around October 2010 (I think). When will we see the difference on our mortgage payment? (We pay mortgage and taxes together.)

When you got your tax bill did it show that you had star now. If it did then I would call your lender and tell them that you want them to do an accounting of your escrow account. That should get them to lower your payment. If your latest tax bill didn't show the star then I would call the town and find out why.

We did just get our tax bill last week and it does not show it. On mynassauproperty.com, compared to last year, our school taxes are down almost $2k. When do these show the difference?

The my nassau property site will show if you are getting the exemption. If you look at the taxes on there, there is a "view exemptions" link, and you can see what exemptions if any, you are getting (and how much they amount to).
The school taxes for the upcoming year are assessed in October, I believe, so everything re: your school tax bill for this year has been set since last October.

The easiest way to check on mynassauproperty.com to is to click on the link for tax bills. We are currently in the "11" year. Compare the assessment column of your 2011 general tax bill with the assessment column of the 2010/11 school tax bill. If the school assessment is lower, you have the STAR.
You may not see a difference in your mortgage payment - this is because the STAR program only decreases your taxes by about $900-$1,000. Unfortunately, even with the STAR exemption, your taxes will probably go up because of increases in the tax rate.

Yes, the school tax exemption is on there.
I don't remember where I viewed this, but from last year to this year, there is over a $1,200 reduction. I just want this reflected on my mortgage bill

The call your mortgage company and ask for an escrow adjustment. By law, they HAVE to do this every year (in the anniversary month of your loan). If you want one done at any other time, you have to request it.

That's what I thought was going to happen, we'd have to wait. I want the reduction now. Thanks for the info!
