Question about Rear face Tethering with a convertiable car seat.

We just got a new car seat (Recaro Peformance ride) and my DH just installed it Rear Facing.
We have no idea if the back should be tethered so that the top of the car seat (Where childs head it) will not move at all. As of right now it moves up and down, but my DH thought that it was suppose to do that for safety with impact. For what I read, some people say it should be Tethered and others say it shouldn't.
When my older DS turned one, we went right to Forward facing. So we are not 100% sure what to do.

What does the manual say? I know for my evenflo it is not supposed to be when it is RF. I believe there are some Britax that it is. So its a matter of the company. If in doubt, call the company directly.

The seat where it is connected to the car at its base should not move more then one inch. At the top it ia going to move a little.

I don't see anything about it in the manual. Maybe I will call the company to make sure. Okay glad it suppose to move a little at the top. Yes the bottom by the base is secure.

Recaro isn't tethered RF. AFAIK< Britax, Diono Radians and Combi Coccoro are the only seats that allow it
