Question about pancakes/waffles for finger foods

My DD is 9 months old and I want to try more finger foods with her. I know that pancakes and waffles are a breakfast option. What do you use for this? The powders and make them? We have one of the aunt jemima pancake mixes and I noticed that one of the ingredients in it was whole eggs. I thought that babies weren't suppose to have the egg white part until after one. Is it ok to use this with whole eggs since it is cooked, or is there another option out there?

Re: Question about pancakes/waffles for finger foods

I use the organic frozen waffles (I can't remember the brand name but they have pictures of sesame characters on them)

I use them over the powder mix because they are whole grain and have added iron, in general they had more beneficial nutrients than the mix did.

I'm not sure if the amt of egg in them would affect the baby,I didn't start them until about 12 months. DS did have some scrambled eggs at 8 months (I didn't know about the egg white thing) and broke out into hives, we gave him bendryl and he was fine. Has your DC had any other food allergies?

DS loves pancakes. Honestly, he likes the Stop and Shop frozen silver dollar pancakes the best. It makes it easier for us too, 30 sec in the microwave, and poof! Breakfast.

Re: Question about pancakes/waffles for finger foods

I get Stop & Shop French toast sticks, Eggo waffles, and walmart pancakes (All frozen). I also make the batter pancakes and fresh french toast but usually only on weekends, and if there are any left I freeze them for during the week.

The complete mix is actually the one that I have, it has whole eggs in the ingredients. I'm sure it's fine, just wanted to see what others were doing!

My ped okayed whole eggs at 10 months so that wasn't an issue for us.

Ann usually only gets pancakes when we are making them for ourselves ... we either use the Bisquick Shake & Pour or Aunt Jemima Complete.

Re: Question about pancakes/waffles for finger foods

I use frozen & sometimes the mix. Personally, I was never concerned with the egg thing.

but then again, he had scrambled eggs with cheese at around 10 months

I wouldn't use anything with eggs in it. I would wait until she was 1 and see if she is allergic to it.
Earth's best makes an "egg free" waffle that I give DS.

I get the whole wheat pancake mix from Trader Joes. When DD was younger I would put in some pureed berries, now I just put in non-pureed. I make a bunch of small ones and freeze them. She loves them!

I use the complete mix that you just add water to. Also courtesy of mrsgafforio...i slice a banana, then coat the slices in pancake batter - DD loves them!! Of course a whole banana is too much so I freeze the rest and take a few out at a time!

Re: Question about pancakes/waffles for finger foods

I think the amount of egg in in is pretty small. I also gave my DD egg whites before one year old.
