Question about moving a treadmill

Maybe a dumb question, but DH planted the seed of doubt in my mind.

Is this something most moving companies can do or do you need a gym related company to do it? It's not a small fold up one, it's a gym-type electronic treadmill - made by Fitline. The bottom can be locked upward, making it more compact, but certainly not small. Originally it was assembled in my basement. DH says it cannot fit up the stairway in one piece and has to be taken apart. My DH insists a regular moving company cannot do it and need to call the retailer I bought it from. Is this true? I thought it was something any professional mover can do. If it does require special attention, how much are we talking to move it? It's not brand new, got in 2007 so I want to make sure it's worth it or find it a new home before we move into ours, but if I can keep it I'd prefer b/c I know DH will give me grief about buying a new one right away b/c of other moving expenses.

most movers can do it, and some will charge a fee for it, but I would never let them do it. if they break it they usually aren't responsible as they will make you sign a waiver

Either have your DH do (go online and look up how to do it) or call the manufacturer and see who they recommend. They will have some companies that do that type of stuff

DH took the base off mine to move it, just because it was easier to move that way

When we got our treadmill at first my DH didn't think he was going to be able to move it up to our attic. I called a few moving companies and they wanted more than $300 just to take it up two flights of stairs. Needless to say, we got a lot of beer and pizza and invited all of his friends over and they figured it out together.
