Question about insurance coverage

I have United Health Care and for my fertility treatment, it's max $15,000 coverage not including medication. My question is, does the consultation fee fall under that $15,000 coverage or is the $15,000 for actual procedures such as IVF?

Thanks.

Re: Question about insurance coverage

U should ask your doctor how they put it in their system. I would assume a consult isn't part of the RX plan but.. ask just in case.
You don't wanna loose out on even 200-300 bucks if u don't have to.

Re: Question about insurance coverage

That's a great max.

I had a max of 5K (per year) and it included everything (consults, IUIs, ect). I ran out very fast.

Re: Question about insurance coverage

I have UHC. my lifetime max is $10,000 and my prescription is 5K for life time. I used about 4 or 5k total for fertility and maxed out my scripts. I believe my consult was part of the maximum. But i would talk to your Dr or at least the billing dept to see how they bill it. All of my blood work, IUI's and sono's were also part of my maximum.

I agree with the first response. It depends on how the doctor's office codes the consultation. I had all preliminary testing and they didn't code it as infertility, but general OB/GYN tests.

My meds were covered under my prescription plan so also didn't count towards my maximum.
