Question about glucose test
If you fail the 1 hour how soon after failing do you need to go for the 3 hour? I go next week for my 1 hour and I am a little nervous about failing. My mom failed the 1 hour both times with me and my sister, but passed the 3 hr so in case I fail how soon do I need to do it? I am doing my 1 hour in my doctors office after work because I cannot take anymore days off of work due to the fact I have just enough sick and personal days banked to not have to go on disability. SO I was hoping if I fail I could wait like 3 weeks when I have off for winter break. I know I'm getting ahead of myself but I just want to be prepared in case I do fail and have to figure out when to do it again!

Re: Question about glucose test
I believe you do have to take the 3 hour unless you failed by a lot or the doctor thinks you have GD for whatever reason and just makes you skip the 3 hour. I think a poster here had that happen to her
I failed my one hour on the 5th and then took the 3 hour on the 19th. Didn't get my results yet

Re: Question about glucose test
I took my 3 hour within the week I found out that I failed my 1 hour. I did have to spent the morning at Quest to take it. Good Luck.

Re: Question about glucose test
how far along will you be when you take the 1 hour? I believe the tests are supposed to be done between 24 and 28 weeks. When i took the 1 hour, I was 26 so when I took the 3 hour 2 weeks later, I was still in the window to take the test...
if you are taking the test at 24 weeks for example, maybe it will be okay to wait 3 weeks to take the 3 hr, IF you fail.
The 3 hr wasn't bad for me. They had a comfy recliner and I was in a room by myself for most of it with full control of the remote I also scheduled it early and was done by 11am and at work by 12:30? I worked late that day too so I didn't need to use my hours

Re: Question about glucose test
I failed the 1 hour with 2 of my 3 pregnancies. Both times, I had to take the 3 hour within that same week...
If you are early enough in taking it, your doctor may be ok with you waiting that long between if you fail the 1 hour.
Chances are you won't! good Luck!

Re: Question about glucose test
Thanks everyone. I guess I will just have to wait and see. I know I'm getting ahead of myself, but I just wanted to be prepared. If I do fail I'll just have to try and get the earliest appointment as possible. I am a preschool teacher at a catholic school so our hours are 8:00 to 2:30 so I'll just have to see if I can get in there early if I do fail. Does any place do it on a Saturday?
