question about finding HB with a doppler

I just got Sonoline B doppler. DH and I tried it out and could not find baby's hb . I am 9 weeks and 1 day today. I am thinking i was looking way too high ( above belly button). What is the right location to search?

I have no clue where to search bc I have one and I have yet to find the hb either. I first tried using it at almost 10weeks and no luck. I was so nervous that soemthing was wrong. But when I went to my appt. a couple days later, the baby's hb was beating away at 169bpm. I just over 12 weeks now and still cant find it.

You need to look basically right above were your pubic hair grows.

My DOCTOR couldn't find mine at 9 weeks. She said she wasn't suprised since it is way too early. Don't worry!

Even at 13 weeks the sono tech didn't go above my belly button.

ETA: above the belly button is way too high, the baby at 9 weeks is growing around the hairline right in the lower abdomen, try there.

You most likely will not be able o hear a Hb prior to 13 weeks with a doppler. And when you hit 13 weeks it would be right about where your hairline begins in between the hip bones

I first heard the hb with a hospital-grade doppler at 10w. It took about 15 minutes to find, and it was waaaaay down low, right at the hairline.

You have to move the wand really, really slowly. Place it way down low, and then don't even move it - rock it to the left and to the right. Slowly. If you still hear nothing, move it an inch to the left and try again.

9w is too early. Don't get discouraged - wait a few days, try again, and be patient. And stay away from your belly button! Baby is nowhere near there yet!

yeah i wouldnt use those dopplers before 12w. thats just asking to worry. i got the angelsounds one around 12-13w and was able to find the heartbeat within a minute or two. it was always parallel to or below the belly button.

You can't find the Heartbeat with a regular doppler until about 13-14 weeks when the uterus has risen out of the pelvis and even this young its difficult for even a trained person.

Hi lady! I got a doppler when I was pg with DD - got it at about 11ish weeks and I freaked out b/c I could not find the heartbeat! I eventually found it, but it didn't become easy to find until about 14 weeks or so.

you are definitely looking too high up. at 9weeks you need to look VERY low!!! like almost your vagina low!! You uterus isn't up that high yet so there's no way the baby will be there. I'm 32 weeks and my uterus is like 4 or 5 inches above my bellybutton now and when I listen for the HB it's usually in alignment with my belly button (SOMETIMES a little above it... but in that range).

Also what kind of doppler are you using? The stenographer one is really hard to find a HB with because you can literally hear every single drip and noise that goes on. But the other kinds... the angelsounds type ones are easier to use.

Also, you might have a hard time until 12w. it's usually harder to find when you are less than that.
