Question about dressing your baby
When you start putting them in more "clothing-like" onesies-- like from the Gap or whatever... do you put an "undershirt onesie", i.e. Gerber or Carters, on underneath?
When do they stop wearing those?

Re: Question about dressing your baby
We never used any undershirts. I just found them to be too much of a pain.

Re: Question about dressing your baby
If you are putting her in a cute onesie then I wouldn't put a white onesie underneath that.
I would put a white onesie under pjs or any two piece outfits so that his belly wouldn't be hanging out.
ETA: I still sometimes put Jack in white onesies - but only when it's cold out and I'm worried that what he's wearing isn't heavy enough!

Re: Question about dressing your baby
If it,s chilly out I put a onesie on under his outfit. Now that he is bigger and most of his outfits are pants and shirts I put a onesie on so his belly doesn’t isn’t exposed all the time! DS is almost 15 months old. I only use them in cold weather though. Once it gets nice no more “undershirts”.

Re: Question about dressing your baby
If the outfit is onesie-like I don't put an undershirt or another onesie on underneath. If it's more "real" clothes - ie...a button down shirt, sweater, etc. I do.

Re: Question about dressing your baby
I put an undershirt onesie under shirts or sweaters (where her belly could hang out and get cold), but not under another onesie. I would put a sweater, fleece or sweatshirt over that for warmth. Layers are key!

Re: Question about dressing your baby
I only used the onesie's under "outfits" if it was cold outside...not in the warmer weather (40 and above).

Re: Question about dressing your baby
I didn't layer my bodysuits and onesies. I think that would be too much bulk and too many snaps that might irritate their thighs.

Re: Question about dressing your baby
It's a personal preference.
I put DD in a white onsie no matter what she is wearing that day, even another onsie.
If the bottem layer gets ruined by a blow-out, then her outfit wouldn't.

i do the same thing, mostly b/c DS was born in September and it hasn't really been warm out - plus, DS lived in onesies when he was born. but i will probably stop when it gets warmer out.

Re: Question about dressing your baby
I always have a white onesie under a shirt onesie. I guess with it being winter I like having the layering not sure what I'll do comes summer.

Re: Question about dressing your baby
When it is cold out (pretty much Oct. thru April) I put a onesie aka undershirt on Marron under all of her clothes all the time. If what your DC will be wearing is the only layer of clothes, then I would put the white (or whatever other color/design you have) onesie underneath.
Marron is almost 3. I actually just went today and bought her regular "cami" type undershirts instead of the onesie types so she could still have an undershirt on while we try to potty train.

Re: Question about dressing your baby
I had this dilemma as well! I stopped buying onsies! Although my DS is older than yours, I keep a white onsie under his shirt so that he doesn't have his midsection exposed. Since your DC is younger, I would just use one onsie and then put something over it. If you really want it to show, then I would just double up the onsies!
